Description
Monopotassium Phosphate (MKP), chemically known as (KH_{2}PO_{4}), is a highly water-soluble salt. It is most widely recognized in agriculture as a premium 0-52-34 NPK fertilizer, providing concentrated phosphorus and potassium without nitrogen.
Core Uses & Benefits
Agriculture (Fertilizer): It is a “straight” fertilizer used during growth stages where nitrogen is undesirable, such as flowering, fruit set, and ripening.
Phosphorus (52%): Essential for root development and energy transfer.
Potassium (34%): Enhances fruit size, sugar content (Brix), and disease resistance.
Foliar Spray: Due to its low salt index and high purity, it is safe for direct leaf application without causing “burn”.
Hydroponics: It is a staple in soilless systems because it dissolves completely without leaving residue that could clog equipment.
Food Additive : Used as a buffering agent, emulsifier, and nutrient supplement in processed foods and sports drinks like Gatorade.
Industrial/Scientific: Acts as a pH buffer in labs and is used in non-linear optics for laser frequency conversion.
